"Joining a league was something way out of my comfort zone, and the first week I was nervous and sucked at throwing. However, everyone was super supportive and friendly - offering tips and encouragement. Summer league will now be my third league at Fondy Axe. It gives me something to look forward to every week."
-Ian A.
"As a woman, axe throwing can seem very intimidating, but Fondy Axe is welcoming, inclusive, and encouraging. We have done axe league a couple times now and plan on continuing. It is lots of fun and I would recommend giving it a try!"
-Lauren H.
LEAGUE COST:
Our leagues are only $15 per week for your first league and $10 per week for each additional league! Leagues run for 8 weeks.
WEEKLY LEAGUE SCHEDULE:
TYPES OF LEAGUES WE OFFER:
AMATEUR HATCHET: Our most popular league and a great one to start with! Using standard hatchets, competitors throw 4 games per week, with each game consisting of 10 throws. During the first 7 weeks of the season, players accumulate as many points as they can. Week 8 is a fun tournament against all the other league members. The fault line is 12 feet from the target and players must wait behind the line until their score and their opponent's score is called. For a more in-depth look at the official WATL rules, see HERE. There's a lot of information there, but don't let it intimidate you. League members get the hang of it quickly and we are always there to help you learn and answer any questions you might have.

ADVANCED HATCHET: Very similar to amateur hatchet, but with the added twist that advanced throwers must throw the last 5 throws of each game from the 15-foot fault line instead of the 12-foot line.
BIG AXE: Players compete using longer-handled axes weighing between 3 and 4.25 pounds. Each week consists of 4 games, with each game being 7 throws. The fault line is 15 feet from the target. During the first 7 weeks of the season, players accumulate as many points as they can. Week 8 is a fun tournament against all the other league members.

DUALS: Players throw hatchets with a partner, at the same time and at the same target. Exciting and fun to watch, anything can happen in duals. Axes can get dinged up, so make sure to bring your backup hatchet! Four games are played per week. Games are 5 throws long and players throw from behind the 12-foot fault line. During the first 7 weeks of the season, players accumulate as many points as they can. Week 8 is a fun tournament against all the other teams.

WKTL KNIVES: Players throw WKTL-compliant knives from two different distances. The first 5 throws are thrown from the 10-foot fault line and the knives must spin one time. The last 5 throws are thrown from the 15-foot fault line and the knives must spin twice. Four games are thrown each week. During the first 7 weeks of the season, players accumulate as many points as they can. Week 8 is a fun tournament against all the other throwers. Knife throwing can be difficult to get the hang of at first, but our league members can help you with the basics. The official WKTL rules can be found HERE.
KNIFE DUALS: Players throw knives with a partner, at the same time and at the same target. Games are 5 throws long and four games are played per week. The first three throws are from the 15-foot fault line and the knives must spin two times. The last two throws are from the 10-foot fault line and the knives must spin once. During the first 7 weeks of the season, players accumulate as many points as they can. Week 8 is a fun tournament against all the other teams.
LEAGUE SEASON START DATES:
SEASON 1 (WINTER): Week of Jan. 6th
SEASON 2 (SPRING): Week of April 6th

SEASON 4 (FALL): Week of Sept. 21st
MARATHON LEAGUES
We sometimes host a special kind of league called marathon leagues. At a marathon league, an entire 8-week season is played in one day. All 28 of your season games take place back-to-back with the week 8 tournament played at the end. Depending on which discipline is being thrown (and how many people attend), a marathon league can take anywhere from 2-6 hours to complete.
On the official World Axe Throwing League leaderboards, a marathon league can replace your regular season score if you perform better during the marathon league. But even if you don't care about the leaderboard, a marathon league can be a great way to get tons of practice throwing at one time - with the added benefit of having other league members there to help you improve.

We offer our marathon leagues at a discount compared to our regular leagues, since all the throwing takes place in one day. We typically charge only $50 for our marathon leagues - a nearly 60% savings over regular league prices. Marathon leagues are usually announced in advance on our Facebook Page.

OTHER INFO ABOUT LEAGUES
- You don't need your own axe to start in leagues, but most league members end up buying their own soon after they begin throwing regularly. We have some house axes that can be borrowed to league members for league use and we also offer a wide range of axes and knives for sale if you decide to buy your own.

- League members get 1 free hour of practice throwing per week during league season that can be used anytime we're open. We do ask that league members use our online booking system to reserve their practice lane, especially during our busy times (Fridays and Saturdays). The free practice time only applies during the 8-week league season.

- We also offer free practice time to league members 30 minutes before leagues start. There are typically a few lanes open for practice so everyone takes turns using them.

- All of our leagues are co-ed and open to anyone over the age of 10. In general, they are very inclusive and we encourage anyone who may be interested to give it a try. Our staff and the other league members want to see you succeed and are happy to offer tips and techniques for improving.

- If league members would like their axes sharpened to help them stick better or to remove dings in the blade, we are happy to sharpen them for free.

- If you have to miss a night of league, you can usually make up your games the following week. The only time you can't is if you miss week 7, since week 8 is the fun tournament and no make-up games are played that day. If you know you are going to miss week 7, we will try to have you throw your games ahead of time.
- If league members want to practice at home, we can usually sell them target boards to use at home - provided we have enough in stock at the time.
